About

Claire Mercer founded Cleverland in 2023. As a hobbyist puzzle-maker for years, she was driven by the idea of a human-first puzzling experience. No algorithms or programs— totally analog from creating to solving.

As a result, Claire personally writes and illustrates each puzzle by hand herself. There are no digital copies of the books (single print-outs may make an appearance though!) and they will never be available from a large retailer.

    Thao Nguyen is an illustrator and designer based in Cleveland, OH. Her work features vibrant colors and textures inspired by memories of the outdoors and her love for wildlife. She has experience across creative industries including greeting cards, stationery, toys, entertainment, and surface design.

    Outside of art, Thao is passionate about health and wellness. She actively seeks out new experiences that enrich her life and fuel her creativity.

  • Photography by Grace McConnell

    Grace is a lifestyle and documentary photographer based in Lakewood, OH and originally from Pittsburgh. She's a 50/50 introvert and extrovert, which also happens to be her photography style: half fly-on-the-wall, half director. Grace's goal is to encourage folks to have fun and feel comfortable while capturing genuine, intimate moments— beautifully.
